Dot Moustrix - the Portrait Series
Eric Newby is wrapping up what was a successful Movember 2010 campaign in Canada with a portrait series based on the sometimes misunderstood facial hair growth in the upper lip region. Over the month of February he collected 75 portraits, of which, 6 will be on display from Monday January 24th thru till February 9th 2011. The official opening night for the installation is going to be on Wednesday January 26th from 6-8pm. There will be cool people and even cooler frosty beverages on hand to make the photos seem even more appealing. The photos have been doctored to protect the innocent but also in a way that has been described by some as "nu-new wave". The process Newby uses leaves the pictures looking like dot patterns hence the name Dot Moustrix calling on the old printers of the past - at the same time referencing the moustache basis of his work - quite clever... indeed.
Purchasing the portraits will yield you the great feeling of giving as all proceeds from the sales of the pieces will go towards Prostate Cancer research in Canada.
So drop by, have a tea or coffee or beer, maybe some vegan brownies too and check out his work.
