KICKING HORSE!

Word up krankstas!
It all started one fateful day in September....year of our Lord 2010.
A little bit of a sidetrack on my drive to Fernie, landed me in Inveremere to check out the Kicking Horse operation. Exciting right? I know!! I got out of the car and the rain continued to fall, so I headed inside and ordered my staple, Cappuccino...uh yum! After a bit of confusion I entered into the office and was greeted by the smiling face of Cattie!
Cattie, is the awesome sauce woman who set up our account and joyfully takes our orders.
Y'know when you talk to someone on the phone but you really have no idea what they look like?
Well, talking with Cattie I imagined a smart sexy woman with a contagious laugh... funny thing, this is exactly who she is ;)

bip bop and a boo
And people ask "heya Kranky, why you choose da kicking horse?"
answer "cause we did!" and well, their coffee tastes rad, thanks to roasters like that dude named Paul. And.. we really dug the packaging, cause it's not ugly... plus, they're a company with a conscience and an interest in being sustainable in their practices.
ie. the new tin cans you see in the grocery stores, and that mulchy composty thingy in the back of their roasting facility. ooh and one more, they have fun doing that thing they do. And we have fun doing what we do, so really ya.
uh oh I lost my train....ahahahahachoooooochoo mmmk
So if you find yourself traveling on that crazy highway known as 93 and you've got a hankerin' for a kick ass cup, and you see the sign for Tim Horton's...don't go there hosers go to Kicking Horse!!!! Seriously good coffee and baked goods, ye-ah whoot!

until the next time...
d-dawg outy. a happy packer

Cattie the great next to Sandy...she seems pretty great too!

it's a banana peel!!
that is not my car... but a lovely day non?

THE CAFE

Oh the cafe, make it be a place of wonder. To leave the world and drift apart - far away from reality.

The cafe as defined by the book, Cafe Life Paris:

People meet at cafes to read, drink coffee, beer, wine, or soft drinks, to talk, to flirt, haggle, relax, study, and, more frequently now, to compose on their laptops. A dog may be patiently waiting alongside. Cafegoers log on to the internet and read the news from their home cities of Boston or Tokyo. Tourists write postcards. We've even seen people doze off.

and a quote by Charles Dickenson...

"The cafe is not a club, but it is made to take the place of a club by many hundreds, who go there to see their friends. Birds of a feather, we are told, like to congregate; and in these houses people of the same class, of the same trade or profession, or any small circle of friends, will often meet together by chance or from habit, not very definitely predetermined when...frequenters of cafes are supposed to be in perpetual exuberance of spirits, always witty, always happy, and each one the best fellow in the world." ~ Charles Dickens (Dictionary of Paris: An Unconventional Handbook, 1882)

RAD

A big shout out to Lee! He had an awesome show open at SWARM! His work is totally cool and we think you need to check it out. For more info on Lee go to his website. All work in the cafe is for sale.
